Technology for Pool Safety

Designing Spaces Correspondent Andi Tilis looks at pool safety. Brett Fritts from PoolSonixs explains the concept of layers of protection a homeowner should have around a pool to work both as deterrents and for detection of any toddler intruders. “Rescue Timmy” is used to demonstrate a PoolSonixs alarm system as the major component of the detection aspect of pool safety.

Swimming To Safety...

The team at Designing Spaces wants everyone to enjoy their summer this year, and for those of you who have a pool— we want your backyard pool to be a safe one. S.R. Smith—makers of the PoolSonix™ pool security system have a great solution to help create a more safe and secure pool environment.

The PoolSonix™ Pool Alarm System is a detection and notification solution designed for swimming pool environments.

The Benefits of the The PoolSonix™ Pool Alarm System:

• The system detects and notifies the pool owner of unauthorized access and accidental pool entry.
• It enhances the pool owner’s ability to respond to emergency situations.

The PoolSonix™ solution brings together different types of sensing technologies to create a layer of protection around the pool:

• It starts with a gate/door alarm, which detects unauthorized access into the pool environment.
• Next, an immersion alarm that detects accidental entry into the pool.
• And lastly, a universal wireless bridge which enables connection of the pool security system to a home security or home automation system.

It’s not easy to think about but, many drownings take place under adult supervision-- all is takes is a momentary distraction to compromise supervision. Or, even a gate left ajar can leave a clear path for a small child to get into the pool.

A PoolSonix™ system can help guard against supervision and deterrence lapses.
