Innovative Insulation for a Home Remodel

BASFDesigning Spaces’ Think Green wanted to learn more about Innovative Green Building Solutions, so we met up with Grace Showalter from BASF Corporation, representing the Neopor division, and Paul Fox, an expert contractor, to visit the home of Ben and Kathy in Bolivar Ohio where NEOPOR® is installed as their insulation for an exterior remodel. Insulation is a great way to save energy, lower bills and bring more comfort to a living environment, and this was exactly the desired goal of Ben and Kathy.  NEOPOR® is a green and sustainable insulation for renovation and new construction. Contractor Paul Fox explains R-value and how it is a measure of insulation. Plus, he points out other points of concern for insulation, such as doors. After seeing the installation, Ben and Kathy later explain how the home is more comfortable with the new NEOPOR® insulation.

Insulate with Gray to Be Green

Are looking to keep your house cool in the summer and warm in the winter, and save on energy costs at the same time?

If you are building a new home or renovating your current one, it’s the perfect time to consider the materials you are using inside your walls and around your home. Everyone hears about ”being green” and energy-efficient, and building products that fit that bill bring real value to your home.

Recognized by its gray color, NEOPOR®, provided by BASF, The Chemical Company is “green” and a sustainable insulation for renovation and new construction:

– NEOPOR is Energy Efficient.
NEOPOR’s unique silver-gray color and exceptional insulation characteristics are a result of high-purity graphite integrated into the polymer matrix. It has a long-term stable R-value ranging from 4.5 – 4.9 per inch at 75F.

– Breathe easy with NEOPOR.
NEOPOR is GreenGuard certified for Indoor Air Quality.and does not use fluourocarbon (CFC, HFC, HCFC) as a foaming or expansion agent.

– NEOPOR® is ‘Adaptable’. Neopor Rigid Thermal Insulation is adaptable in size, thickness, shape and density. This means no more gluing together multiple boards to get 4 inches of insulation. This means you can hit your R-value target in a thickness-constrained application and ‘mold-in’ interlocking features.

– Water and NEOPOR are good friends.
NEOPOR Rigid Thermal Insulation is a closed-cell foam, but has a Vapor Permeability rating up to 5.0. This means walls constructed with Neopor Rigid Thermal Insulation can more easily transport water vapor, reducing the likelihood of mold, mildew and structural damage.

– Discover the marriage of Quality and Cost Effectiveness.
Don’t be fooled by “gray foam” that doesn’t carry the NEOPOR Trademark. In the USA and Canada, products made of NEOPOR are produced according to quality standards defined by a Brand Marketing Program.

NEOPOR® Rigid Thermal Insulation is today’s cost-effective ‘Meet Code’ insulation solution for architects, contractors and building owners.

Did you know that in addition to insulated siding that NEOPOR® Rigid Thermal Insulation can be found in:

– Doors
– Windows
– Insulating Structural Headers
– Continuous Exterior Insulation

Neopor is Powerful Insulation.
