Baby Safety Tips

There are all sorts of hidden hazards in the home for babies and toddlers. It’s important that parents take the right measures to keep their homes properly squared away for child safety. Military Makeover now takes on the tactical art of safeguarding, and addressing risks within the home.

Joining correspondent Art Edmonds is Toni Anderson of The Happy Housewife, a Safety 1st partner, to provide tips on how to create a safe environment and identify some risks to toddlers within the Lunt home.

Toni is a military wife herself and experienced at creating a safe home environment, thanks to her own 7 children! Together, they go through the home and look at what can be done to make it safer for Ashley and Stephen’s son Barrett.

Keeping Baby Safe at Home

As much as you want to let your child explore and satisfy their curiosity, it’s important that they are SAFE, first and foremost.

Touching everything in sight, reaching, bumping, climbing stairs, opening and closing drawers —- if you have a little one in your home you understand how active they can be!

As much as you want to let your child explore and satisfy their curiosity, it’s important that they are SAFE, first and foremost.

And that’s just what Safety 1st® wanted to do for a military family this past summer. Safety1st joined forces with the Designing Spaces team for the “Designing Spaces of Hope – Military Makeover” to help renovate the Summerville S.C. townhouse of a family of a wounded veteran, Stephen Lunt, who sacrificed for our country.

During the episode, Toni Anderson of The Happy Housewife, a Safety 1st partner and mom to seven provided tips on how to create a safe environment and identified some risks within the Lunt home. They’ll:

o Install Safety 1st complete magnetic locking system on the kitchen cabinets
o Install a Wire Hider and power strip cover
o Cushion table corners with foam corner bumpers
o Explain no drill top-of-door guard
o Sliding door child lock
o Child-friendly gates
o Mount hardware for furniture wall straps
